Boxes are left unfinished - never painted or stained - so the character of the wood remains visible. At Dusky Lark, every gift box is thoughtfully curated with care, intention, and high-quality items. While we always strive to include the exact products shown, occasional substitutions may be necessary due to availability, seasonality, or small-batch artisan production. We will thoughtfully substitute an item with a similar item of equal or greater value, always preserving the spirit and quality of your gift. Should any questions or special considerations arise regarding a substitution, we will always reach out to you before finalizing/customizing your order.

What payment methods can I use?
We offer different payment methods including major providers like Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, American Express, GooglePay and ApplePay.
Can I make changes to my order after it’s been placed?
Yes! You can modify or cancel your order for a full refund as long as it hasn’t shipped yet. Please reach out to us as soon as possible - ideally within 12-24 hours. Once an order has been shipped, we’re unable to make changes or cancellations.
How long will it take to ship my order?
All gifts ship from Maryland within 2-3 business days. We offer free UPS Standard and Express (at additional cost) shipping for all orders shipped within the contiguous United States. Delivery dates vary depending on your location, and we encourage you to track your order using the tracking number provided in the shipment confirmation email. Orders usually arrive to destinations in the mid-Atlantic within 1 business day, the Northeast and Southeast in 2 business days, the Midwest in 3 business days, and to California and the Pacific Northwest in 4-5 business days. If you need a gift to arrive on a specific day, we recommend using Express Shipping at additional cost (select at checkout).
How can I track my order?
A tracking number is automatically generated once we print your shipping label in our Shopify system, which is done on the same day that the gift box ships out. You will receive an email notification letting you know that your gift has been shipped and the tracking number will be provided in the same email. If you have not received a tracking number, it is possible that the shipment notification email has landed in your spam filter or has been denied by your email server. If you experience any issues with the shipment notification email and do not see it in your spam folder, please contact us and we will be happy to provide tracking information.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently all orders ship only within the US.
What is your return policy?
Due to the nature of the items included in the boxes and because each gift box is handcrafted, all sales are final. We put a lot of time and effort in packaging every single one of your items so that it does not damage during shipping. However, you can cancel your order and get a full refund if it is not shipped yet. Please contact us as soon as you decide to cancel your order. Orders that have already been shipped cannot be canceled. Once the package has left our studio, it is in the care of the mail courier and all actions will need to be taken with the courier delivering the package. However, if you or the recipient are unsatisfied with the purchase, please let us know and we will work with you to make it right. For products damaged during shipping, please keep all original packing material for courier inspection in order to file a claim with our shipper. We require an image of the damage to be emailed to us for our review. We must receive notification of damaged products within 48 hours of delivery.
Will a packing slip or invoice be included?
Our shipments do not include any receipts or prices. Upon placing your online order, you will immediately receive a confirmation email which can serve as a receipt. If you placed an order and did not immediately receive the confirmation email, it is possible that it has landed in you spam filter or has been denied by your email server. If you experience any issues with the confirmation email and do not see it in your spam folder, please contact us and we will be happy to provide a copy of your order receipt.
What happens if your gift box sent back to us as a return-to-sender?
If your gift is returned to our studio as undeliverable, we will notify you via email that your gift box has been returned and the reason it was returned (not picked up/declined by recipient/invalid address). In case of invalid address, we will ask you to provide us with an updated/valid mailing address to attempt re-delivery. We will next repackage your gift box in a new shipping box and re-send to the recipient. The fee to re-process return-to-sender gifts is $10 plus the actual cost of postage.
Do you work with large-volume orders?
If you need more than 10 gift boxes, please contact us and we will be happy to help you with your order.
